Objectives of the Association Register Maintain the established Membership Register of competent advanced motorcycle instructors. Instructional Competence Ensure that registered instructors retain their competence and keep up-to-date with best practice. Code of Professional Conduct Establish and maintain a code of professional conduct for registered advanced motorcycle instructors, and so far as is reasonably practicable, take such steps as are necessary to ensure that the code is observed. Enhancement of Professional Competency Enhance the professional competency of motorcycle instructors generally via, for example, contributions to the development of training course syllabuses and training techniques. Associate Membership Welcome into Associate Membership people seeking to become advanced motorcycle instructors and to provide them with support, advice, training facilities and the opportunity to establish contact with registered members. Research Promote, and take part in, research and dissemination of relevant research findings, for example studies to determine the effectiveness of training, and to evaluate the consistency of examination decision criteria. Authoritative Contributions Offer authoritative contributions to public debates and controversies relating to motorcycle safety generally, accident causation, issues such as regulatory and enforcement initiatives, personal protective clothing and the performance of motorcycles. Liaison Liaise appropriately with road safety and other relevant bodies. Promotion of the Industry Promote a greater appreciation of the challenges and benefits of advanced motorcycle training, for example among motorcyclists who perceive that they already possess appropriate skills and who do not see the need for further training. Guidance & Help Provide guidance and help to members seeking to establish or to develop advanced motorcycle training schools1. Charity & Fund Raising Organise sponsored rides accompanied by members of the association to raise money for charity, or to fund independent research, and generally to promote the objectives of the association listed above. 1 This objective would clearly be of value to many prospective members, but the Association will at all times be, and be seen to be, a professional association of instructors, not a trade association representing the training companies owned or managed by members.
